As you can see from our website, we have recently listed a few sculptural outdoor pieces.

Beton, as the French call it, is a simple concrete that was popular in the early part of the Twentieth century for out door sculptural pieces. Now after seventy odd years of being in the elements these pieces are beautifully weathered and ready for your own abode. Displayed inside or out, these sculptures are just the unique accessory needed to update any look.

Not to say all of our stock isn’t gorgeous, yet every now and then something comes in, that just takes your breath away. Last Friday this very fine quality French Rosewood and Kingwood serpentine shaped cabinet came in. It features marquetry inlaid panels and exquisite bronze mounts. The piece dates from the Napoleon III period, circa 1860. So often people ask you, how do you know the difference between an authentic antique and a reproduction. Well, here is it is. Once you see and experience enough pieces such as this one the difference becomes obvious. It’s all in the amazing attention to detail. The finishes are not at all crude but finely defined. A piece likes this screams high quality not poor imitation. It’s an absolute pleasure to stock a piece like this, albeit until it finds its true owner….

After two frustrating weeks of delay our latest shipment has finally arrived! And what a groovy shipment this is, with lots of pieces from the 1960s. Decorative glass sculptures and vases, occasional furniture and more. Some items have already made it in store after Wednesdays early (and cold) unload. Other pieces are still to follow after a clean up at the warehouse, keep and eye on the web and see the items arrive in store soon.

Our latest European shipment arrived bright and early this morning. A few things will come in to the store today and tomorrow however it is a gradual process with items that need a bit more attention.

Luckily the rain stayed away as we unpacked the container. As someone who has only seen the pieces in photos, it was great to finally get a glimpse of all the fabulous pieces that Phil and Steve bought. This container is a real eclectic collection of pieces from 19th century clocks and marble statuary to vintage bicycles and 70′s dining tables.

As you can see there truly is something for everyone!

Steve and Phil are currently on a European buying trip and have spent their time in the South of France so far. Apart from enjoying gorgeous weather with an average temperature of 26 they have been buying up a storm and are really excited, claiming this is already the best shipment of the year, and there are still two weeks of buying to go! We always find a great selection of outdoors and provincial furniture around these parts. It seems to go with the weather…

Liz and Phil Capocchi recently enjoyed a relaxing trip to the Indonesian island of Bali…yet being typical antique dealers they couldnt help themselves but buy a few things for the store. The shipment has just arrived and includes a wonderful collection of native Indonesian sculpture and artifacts. Pieces that sit perfectly with antiques and other modern pieces. The items have been listed on the website this week.

Last Friday started out cold and early for Steve and the workshop boys, who at 7.30am, rubbed their hands together as the doors of our latest container were thrown open. The arrival of a shipment is always an exciting thing, a little bit like Christmas. Everything comes individually wrapped, and there’s a sense of anticipation in the air. You recall buying the pieces on the other side of the world and silently thank someone for the fact that your things have arrived safe and sound.
Details of items in the workshop
Soon after, work begins on cleaning up what needs to be done, and John, Jamie and Colin perform their restoration miracles on the pieces that need a little T.L.C – we are talking about antiques afterall!

Pieces that don’t need any restoration are loaded onto the van and brought into our showroom straight away. I have listed a few new bits on the website so no need to go out in the cold if you don’t want to! The shipment has in it your typical ‘Capocchi’ combination of the old and the vintage, from Industrial to Art Deco. Speaking of Art Deco, make sure that you check out the amazing leather suite that has come in store, two armchairs and a three seater sofa, with the most amazing curved back- I can’t get enough of those lines that are so typical of that era. Also in, a pair of Giant Schnauzer dog figurines, for those Schnauzer crazy people out there. A unique swinging steel chair and four curved steel dining chairs add to the mix something of an industrial feel. All in all a wonderful and varied collection with literally something for everyone. We look forward to showing you our collection..
The Amazing Art Deco Suite from our latest shipment

All things going to plan, our latest shipment from Europe should be arriving this Friday 27th May. I’m most excited about the pair of French vintage side tables with inlaid sunburst pattern….what a shame staff cant reserve stock! As items come into the shop they will be uploaded onto the website. There is bound to be something for everyone so keep an eye out!
