Blue Wedgwood Keith Murray Vase

Keith Murray Vase for Wedgwood. In the Blue glaze, the vase is conical in shape, though slightly flared at the top with horizontal banding. On the base is the Wedgwood Barlaston backstamp dating the piece between 1940 and 1951. It also has it’s David Jones retail label.

Interesting Wedgwood Figure designed by Arnold Machin, the figure depicts a Sea Horse and Nymph. What has come to be known as the Rust glaze was created by Norman Wilson and is used on the figure. Indeed Wilson’s initials are on the base along with the Wedgwood Barlaston backstamp. This piece is also signed on the back by Arnold Machin.

Pretty Wedgwood vase designed by Keith Murray. With the 1930’s signature stamp on the base. This vase is tall with vertical banding and a slightly scalloped edge.
There is water staining to the inside and a fine hairline crack at the top, barely visible outside and in, running down the seam of one band. Otherwise the piece is in fine condition and remains aesthetically pleasing. 23cm H, 17cm W at the top.
